A clutch kit works by engaging and disengaging the transmission of power to a vehicle’s wheels:
-
Engagement
When the clutch is engaged, the pressure plate applies force to the driven plate, which transfers power to the gearbox.
-
DisengagementWhen the clutch pedal is pressed, the release bearing pushes into the pressure plate’s diaphragm spring. This releases the pressure plate’s contact with the clutch plate, allowing the clutch plate to stop spinning. The driver can then change gears.
